Обробка відпрацьованих радіоактивних іонообмінних смол перед їх кондиціонуванням: комплексний огляд методів

У статті на основі сучасних наукових джерел проаналізовано технології обробки відпрацьованих іонообмінних смол, значне накопичення яких спостерігається на багатьох майданчиках атомних електростанцій у світі. Відпрацьовані іонообмінні смоли належать до категорії «проблемних» радіоактивних відходів через їхню схильність до набухання, утворення водню та метану внаслідок радіолізу та біодеградації, генерацію агресивних і токсичних продуктів під час термічного розкладу, а також через складність інкорпорування у тверді матриці. Це зумовлює потребу в розробленні економічно доцільних, безпечних та ефективних технологій їх переробки. У цьому огляді стисло представлено термічні (спалювання, піроліз, газифікація, плазмова обробка, паровий риформінг у псевдозрідженому шарі, окиснення розплавленими солями) та хімічні методи (процеси Фентона, окиснення й газифікація в надкритичній воді) обробки іонообмінних смол. Термічні технології, зокрема піроліз, плазмова обробка та паровий риформінг, забезпечують суттєве зменшення об’єму відходів і можливість стабілізації небезпечних компонентів, тоді як хімічні процеси, як-от процес Фентона та мокре окиснення, ефективні для глибокого руйнування органічної матриці. Наведено приклади промислового застосування сталих технологій переробки іонообмінних смол: піроліз (NUKEM Technologies GmbH, Німеччина та Belgoprocess, Бельгія), газифікація (VTT, Фінляндія) та паровий риформінг у псевдозрідженому шарі (Studsvik, Швеція). Комплексний аналіз, що охоплює оцінку переваг і обмежень розглянутих технологій, їх рівень технологічної готовності, комерційну доступність та потенціал масштабування, засвідчує, що піроліз є найбільш збалансованим і перспективним методом обробки відпрацьованих іонообмінних смол. Подальші дослідження мають бути спрямовані на оптимізацію параметрів процесу, розроблення ефективніших каталізаторів та використання функціональних добавок, здатних підвищувати ступінь фіксації радіонуклідів. Додатковим пріоритетом є створення нових вміщуючих матриць для надійної іммобілізації піролізних залишків, які відповідатимуть чинним критеріям прийнятності радіоактивних відходів для захоронення.
